Eric is a Partner of Shapiro, Croland, Reiser, Apfel & Di Iorio LLP, a leading litigation firm in New Jersey and Chair of the firm’s Cannabis Law Group. Eric primarily practices in the areas of business and partnership litigation (business divorces), probate litigation, commercial litigation and cannabis law.

Eric’s varied litigation and transactional experience includes concentrations in: partnership and shareholder disputes; corporate derivative actions; restrictive covenant disputes; actions involving temporary and preliminary injunctions; fraudulent transfer litigation; probate litigation and contested guardianships; cannabis licensing, business counseling, regulatory compliance and litigation; intellectual property law protection and litigation; bankruptcy filings, bankruptcy court litigation and corporate dissolutions; and trial & appellate practice in state and federal courts.

Eric’s burgeoning expertise in these areas of law has earned him recognition as a Rising Star in Business Litigation by New Jersey Super Lawyers in 2016-2021[1] and inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America publication in 2018-2021. Eric has also been the recipient of several judicial appointments, including court appointed counsel and guardian ad litem for mentally incapacitated individuals.

Eric is admitted to practice before both the federal and state courts of New Jersey and New York. He is also an active member of the Bergen and Passaic County Bar Associations, a member of the New Jersey State Bar Cannabis Law Committee and Litigation Subcommittee, a member of the New Jersey CannaBusiness Association and former Vice President of the New Jersey Chapter of the University of Michigan Alumni Association.

Eric is a 2007 graduate of the University of Michigan and received his JD from Rutgers School of Law in 2010. Prior to joining Shapiro & Croland, Eric was a partner of LoFaro & Reiser, LLP and an associate for Saiber. Prior to joining private practice, Eric clerked for the Honorable Margaret M. McVeigh, P.J.Ch. ( Chancery Division, Passaic County) and the Honorable Michael B. Kaplan, U.S.B.J. (U.S. Bank., Dist. NJ).
